Adventures in iPad: Zaggmate keyboard

I have been working with my new Zaggmate keyboard for the past month to be ready for the NERGC genealogy conference this week in Springfield, NH.

It is very lightweight and the angle for typing, on a hard surface is great. But, when used in my lap in a crowded-like-steerage conference room, I fear it will be hard to control.

The iPad doesn't "clip" or "click" into the slot that holds the iPad on the keyboard. I have a rubbery case on the back which I don't like taking off but it was so tippy and unsettled that I found myself wondering if I took the rubbery case off whould that solve the problem? It didn't. It rests in the slot a bit better but is not secure.

At onc point in a genealogy meeting, I actually shifted in my chair and thunk went the iPad onto the floor! My husband picked it up for me, but I just couldn't worry about breaking it again. With people moving in front of you in a row, I don't think this keyboard is going to work.

However, I do love it when I am working on the couch or at the breakfast bar in my kitchen. I will get my $100 worth of it. But, at the conference, I will use my Padprop and type on the virtual keyboard. I might place it on the lip of the case I bought for my netbook.
