One of the hardest things about preparing to move is making decisions about the antique furniture that I have inherited. Some pieces are "used up" after being actually used in the four houses that my family has lived in in my lifetime.
One piece is my mother's hope chest. It needs touching up but it really is a beauty. When people come to my home, they remark about how great it is. I really like the storage. OK, I am not an antiques person but I think that I need to keep it.
Tucked in a corner of the chest drawer is this piece of paper which looks like it was taken from a catalog. I would bet that my grandmother peered at it while she painted. Today, we would have enlarged it.
