Today I learned that Angelo DeLucia, the founder of Del's Lemonade has died of cancer at 84. This is a photo of the "World Headquarters" in Cranston, Rhode Island just last month.
I took this from inside the car while my husband Steve went to buy me a Del's. He also bought me a great cup with the Del's logo on it. I love it.
So, what has this to do with technology, you may ask? Well, everything.
As I write a book proposal on the topic of Digital Storytelling, I am struck by the power of the small stories from our past that make for great digital storytelling.
It has been 5 years since my mother died and we sold the house that is located in the neigborhood behind this Del's. Mr. DeLucia was nice to us kids when we congregated as this was also our bus stop. He created something that is a symbol of Rhode Island. Something everybody there knows about and loves. Don't miss the tiny video under the "About Us" section at the Del's Web site
I was THRILLED to find I could buy Del's online and have it delivered to my door. This is the power of the Web to take such DELicious memories and share them with others.
